SHREK - The Musical

Our friends and Festival regulars at Burgess Hill MusicalTheatre Society will be showcasing their up and coming production of ‘Shrek –The Musical’.

The Wesley Hall at Haywards Heath Methodist Church plays host to a family friendly afternoon of musical entertainment starting at 2pm.

July will see the full show preformed in Hurstpierpoint but you can experience the songs at festival first.

The Arts Festival Quiz

This evening sees the return of the now traditional ‘Arts Festival Quiz’.

It’s always a fun event so grab some friends, head to the Town Hall and test your knowledge of not only the arts but a whole lot more.

Prizes for the winners, raffle and refreshments.

Join award-winning storyteller Jason Buck to hear the original myths and legends that inspired the monsters from film, inlcuding the Kraken and other beasts from dark Norse tales, cannibal witches from Eastern European folklore and modern action movies, Greek myths, and more!

As part of the Haywards Heath Arts Festival 2025, Jason has been invited to bring a storytelling show to the Hop Sun microbrewery and taproom. Enjoy a drink and a snack, sit back and immerse yourself in the wonders of the best storytelling you'll have heard since childhood.

An Evening with Dirk Maggs

Spend an insightful, intriguing and informative evening in the company of the internationally acclaimed Dirk Maggs 

Dirk Maggs, born in St. Helier, Jersey in February 1955, is a British freelance writer and director with an illustrious career in radio drama. His innovative approach combines cinematic storytelling, layered sound effects, orchestral music, and digital recording technology, resulting in what he terms “Audio Movies.”

Maggs studied Drama at King Alfred’s College, Winchester, where he later became one of the first Honorary Fellows of the University of Winchester for his contributions to the Dramatic Arts. In 2019, he received an Honorary Doctorate from Bournemouth University for his work in the Arts.

Throughout his career, Maggs has produced remarkable radio comedy and drama. Notable works include:

  1. “Batman Knightfall” (BBC Radio 1)
  2. “Flywheel, Shyster & Flywheel” (an updated version of a 1932 Marx Brothers radio show)
  3. “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” (Tertiary to Hexagonal Phases with Douglas Adams on BBC Radio 4)
  4. “The Sandman” (for Audible / DC Comics with Neil Gaiman)


Maggs’s expertise extends beyond the airwaves. He was awarded the “Best Audiobook Producer” by the Audio Publishers Association in 2021. His creative vision and passion for storytelling make him an engaging speaker, and his upcoming talk promises to be an unforgettable experience. Don’t miss the chance to hear from this radio legend!

Dave Fensome and Friends - Comedy at the College 

The highly respected Dave Fensome will be your Master of Ceremonies at the Hub Theatre for what is sure to be a great night of Stand-up Comedy.

The line up is yet to be confirmed but you’re assured of a fun night with some of the best comedic talent on the circuit.  

Dave Fensome - Known for his quick wit and imaginative material Dave is a staple of the circuit. He is a very well regarded MC with a reputation for being able to tame nearly any crowd.

His debut hour ADHDave, about a late diagnosis of ADHD in the midst of some very challenging life events, was a sell-out hit across Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe festivals.
